Leapfrog alternative: switching from Leapfrog Geo, Edge and Driver to GEOREKA

GEOREKA is 3D geological modelling and resource estimation software that geologists use as an alternative to Leapfrog Geo, Leapfrog Edge and Seequent Driver, with true volumetric domains, local varying anisotropy, visible node-based workflows and a floating licence.

Geologists usually consider switching for predictable licensing, a workflow they can see and reuse, or modelling and estimation in one application instead of a base product plus extensions. GEOREKA covers the same ground in one application: implicit modelling with explicit control (comparable to Leapfrog Geo), local varying anisotropy (comparable to Seequent Driver in Seequent Evo), and resource estimation with IDW, RBF, SVR and dual ordinary kriging in Core, with validation, simulation and reporting in Premium. GEOREKA can import Leapfrog meshes, so existing work is not thrown away. The 14-day trial includes every feature, so you can rebuild one of your own projects, with or without our support, and compare the result before you decide.

Why switch

Why geologists consider switching

Predictable licensing

A floating licence moves between users and computers, with no per-user or extension stacking to budget for.

Workflows you can see

Visual, node-based workflows show every step and can be reused, which helps with reproducibility and review under JORC and NI 43-101.

Flexible domain modelling

Data-driven implicit domains, with explicit control where the geology calls for it, including faults, intrusions and unconformities.

Modelling and estimation together

Estimate on the same model you built, then classify and report, without exporting to another package.

Moving a project

How to move a project across

  1. Start the trialRun GEOREKA beside your current software for 14 days, with every feature available.
  2. Import your dataDrillholes with collar, survey, assay and lithology from CSV, plus topography, DXF and Lidar, with desurveying and error checking.
  3. Bring in existing meshesImport Leapfrog msh meshes as a reference to compare against.
  4. Rebuild the domainsUse the implicit workflow, then compare the result with your existing model.
  5. Estimate and reportEstimate on the same model, classify, and produce grade-tonnage by domain and cut-off. Dual ordinary kriging, RBF and SVR use all points, so there is no search neighbourhood to set up. Export results to other packages.

What you get

Why geologists choose GEOREKA

True geological volumes

Estimation directly on true volumetric (tetrahedral) models from the start, not only on boundary surfaces and partial blocks.

Local varying anisotropy

Direction of continuity that follows the structure, used for interpolation, estimation and classification distances.

Implicit modelling with explicit control

Data-driven implicit domains, combined with explicit user control and flexible domain relationships, in a visual node-based workflow you can see and reuse.

Estimation methods in one view

IDW, RBF, SVR and Dual ordinary kriging in Core. Validation and simulation in Premium.

Multi-element analysis

Interactive scatter plots and clustering with linked 2D and 3D plots.

Free Viewer for collaboration

Colleagues, clients and reviewers open models in 3D without a licence.

In their words

What geologists say

“I use GEOREKA for all my wireframe modelling. It is faster and I think the results are more geologically representative than can be achieved by explicit modelling.”

Greg Mosher, independent consultant

“I found GEOREKA back in 2018 when I was desperate for a way to quickly and effectively visualize and manipulate drillhole data in 3D as a consulting geologist in a junior exploration company.”

Nathan Bishop, independent consultant

“GEOREKA is intuitive and user-friendly, which has made it easy for our team, including new members, to get up to speed quickly.”

Ramin Rafiei, Novamera Inc.

Common questions

Switching from Leapfrog FAQ

Is GEOREKA an alternative to Leapfrog Edge?

Yes, for resource estimation. GEOREKA estimates on the same model you build, with IDW, RBF, SVR and Ordinary Kriging in Core and variography, validation and simulation in Premium. The estimators use all points, so there is no search neighbourhood analysis to set up.

Is there an equivalent to Seequent Driver?

GEOREKA’s local varying anisotropy (LVA) plays a similar role: it lets the direction of continuity change through the model (estimated, inferrred or measured) so that interpolation and estimation follow the structure. GEOREKA is a desktop application rather than a cloud platform.

What is the best alternative to Leapfrog Geo?

It depends on your work. GEOREKA suits geologists who want true volumetric domains, visible reusable workflows and one floating licence for modelling and estimation. The 14-day trial lets you test it on your own project.

Can I import my Leapfrog data into GEOREKA?

Yes. GEOREKA imports Leapfrog msh meshes, as well as drillholes from CSV, DXF, topography and Lidar.

Do I lose my existing Leapfrog work if I switch?

No. Your original project stays where it is. You can run both side by side during the trial and compare results before you decide.

What does a floating licence mean?

A floating licence is not tied to one person or computer. It can be shared between users and machines, one at a time, with no activation fees.

Do clients need a licence to open my model?

No. The GEOREKA Viewer is free and opens models in 3D without a licence.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The 14-day trial includes every feature, including Premium.
