Leapfrog Geo alternative: GEOREKA vs Leapfrog Geo

Looking for a Leapfrog Geo alternative? GEOREKA is 3D geological modelling software that uses implicit modelling, like Leapfrog Geo. This page compares how the two differ in licensing, workflow, estimation and price, so you can decide what to trial.

GEOREKA puts modelling and estimation in one application with a published price: Core €5,500 / $6,500 a year, Premium €8,500 / $9,750 a year, both on a floating licence. Leapfrog Geo is licensed by quote, with extensions such as Edge for estimation sold separately.

Predictable licensing

Published prices and a floating licence, so you can budget without extension stacking or per-user quotes.

Workflow

A process you can see

Visual, node-based workflows show every step and can be reused, which helps reproducibility and review under JORC and NI 43-101.

Flexible domain modelling

Data-driven implicit domains with explicit control where the geology needs it, including faults, intrusions and unconformities.

What a consultant pays: a worked example

Seequent publishes daily rates for verified consultants on its Seequent Consultants Daily page, in US dollars. A consultant who works in Leapfrog for 15 or more days in a month reaches the monthly cap. The table compares those capped rates with GEOREKA’s published prices.

UseLeapfrog, consultants daily ratesGEOREKA
Modelling onlyLeapfrog Geo: $164.25 a day, capped at $2,463.75 a month. About $29,565 a year if you reach the cap every monthGEOREKA Core: $750 a month, or $6,500 a year
Modelling and estimationLeapfrog Geo with Edge: $234.25 a day, capped at $3,513.75 a month. About $42,165 a year if you reach the cap every monthGEOREKA Premium: $1,200 a month, or $9,750 a year

In this example GEOREKA Premium costs about $32,000 a year less than Leapfrog Geo with Edge, which is around 77% less. Core costs about $23,000 a year less than Leapfrog Geo alone. Leapfrog also charges a one-time activation fee of $420.

Daily billing favours light users. If you use Leapfrog fewer than about 40 days a year, Leapfrog Geo alone costs less than a Core annual licence, and fewer than about 42 days a year for Geo with Edge against Premium. A GEOREKA floating licence can also be shared across a team, whereas each Leapfrog user needs a separate Seequent ID.

Rates are for verified consultants on the daily plan, as shown on the Seequent page on 23 October 2026 (page last modified 30 June 2026). Other Leapfrog subscriptions are priced by quote, and corporate customers will pay differently. Prices are before tax. Check Seequent for current rates. The two products are not identical in features.

When switching may not be worth it

If your team has many active Leapfrog projects, a workflow built around its extensions, and clients who expect Leapfrog files, switching has a cost. The 14-day trial includes every feature, so you can rebuild one of your own projects in GEOREKA, compare the result with your existing model, and decide. GEOREKA can import Leapfrog meshes as a reference.

Questions

GEOREKA vs Leapfrog Geo FAQ

What is the main difference between GEOREKA and Leapfrog Geo?

Both use implicit modelling. GEOREKA combines modelling and estimation in one application with true volumetric models, a visible node-based workflow and a published price. Leapfrog Geo is licensed by quote, with extensions such as Edge sold separately.

Is GEOREKA cheaper than Leapfrog Geo?

It can be. GEOREKA publishes its prices: Core is €5,500 / $6,500 a year and Premium €8,500 / $9,750 a year, on a floating licence. At Seequent’s published consultant daily rates, Leapfrog Geo with Edge reaches $3,513.75 a month, so heavy users pay far more. Light users on daily billing may pay less. See the worked example above and request a quote for other licence types.

Can GEOREKA open Leapfrog projects?

GEOREKA imports Leapfrog meshes, which you can use as a reference to compare against a rebuilt model.

Is GEOREKA a Leapfrog Edge alternative?

Yes, for resource estimation. Core includes dual ordinary kriging, IDW, RBF and SVR, and Premium adds variography, validation, conditional simulation and classification.

Can I try GEOREKA before I decide?

Yes. The 14-day trial includes every feature, and afterwards GEOREKA keeps working as a free Viewer.
